| This lovely, one-of-kind Edwardian era brooch features cabochon Persian turquoise stones, natural seed pearls and 1.25 carats of European-cut diamonds. These are set within an 18K yellow gold frame with beautiful foliate chasing and very fine beading around the settings. There are 14 turquoise stones, approximately 54 pearls and approximately 72 claw set diamonds. The brooch measures 1 1/2" x 1 1/2". The pin closure is a 'C' clasp with a safety closure. The pin was originally set in the center of the back but was relocated near the top of the brooch. It may have been changed so the brooch wouldn't lean out at the top when worn as the brooch has a good weight to it. In most of my photos, the seed pearls appear to be gold in color, but in reality they're more cream to silver colored. (see 'Enlargement 5'). There are no hallmarks, but the gold tests as 18k. This is an exceptional piece of jewelry in fine condition. | ||
