| This incredible hot water pot stands a little over 9 3/4 inches high. It was made by Thos. Whipham & Chas. Wright, London, and has the date mark for 1757-58. The repousse work is beautiful and incorporates exotic birds, trees bursting with fruit, vines, flowers and pagodas. There are different scenes on the front and back. The reposse work near the rim has bells hanging from the edge of it. The lid also has bells, flowers and foliage. It has a wicker wrapped sterling handle, an elegant 3-panel spout and a twisted finial. In addition to the hallmarks, the bottom is filled with scratched script, much of which I'm unable to decipher. There are many numbers, the symbol for pounds sterling and 'Lord Kerr' written twice. The weight on my postal scale is approx. 1.25 pounds. This piece is all original with no repairs and it is in fine condition. | ||
